About the author
Klaus Heinrich Thomas Mann, geboren am 18. November 1906 in München und gestorben am 21. Mai 1949 in Cannes, Frankreich, war ein deutscher Schriftsteller und der älteste Sohn des Schriftstellers Thomas Mann. Zunächst ein literarischer Außenseiter, avancierte er zu einem der stärksten Kritiker des Nationalsozialismus, ging ins Exil in die USA und zählt heute zu den wichtigsten Vertretern der deutschsprachigen Exilliteratur nach 1933.
