Curt Breuer verbringt mit seinem Mountainbike einen Kurzurlaub in der Eifel. Er mietet sich ein Zimmer in dem Gasthof unterhalb einer alten Burgruine. Auf dem noch erhaltenen Turm der Burgruine trifft er eines Nachts das junge Mädchen Maria. Die Wirtin des Gasthofs erzählt Curt, dass Maria Gronert 1945 vom Turm gesprungen ist, um sich das Leben zu nehmen. Die Wirtin beruhigt Curt und vermutet, dass sich jemand einen Spaß mit Touristen erlaubt hat. Doch Curt trifft Maria erneut auf dem Turm, und sie offenbart ihm ihr schreckliches Geheimnis.
