About this ebook

Acclaimed author Michael Grant’s globally bestselling Gone series continues with Villain, where old foes return and new ones rise, with action-packed scenes, gory battles, and plot twists that will leave readers scrambling for more.

It’s been four years since the events of GONE. The Perdido Beach dome is down, but the horrors within have spread. The alien virus-infested rock that created the FAYZ is creating monsters—monsters that walk the cities and countryside, terrorizing all.

There are tanks in the street and predator drones in the sky, doomed efforts to stop the disintegration of civilization. Into this chaos comes a villain with the power to control anyone with just the sound of his voice. Dillon Poe wanted to be a comedian once . . . but everyone made fun of him. Dillon the loser. Dillon the freak. Now he’s sending thousands to their death. Who’s laughing now?

The only people who can stop a superpowered villain are superpowered heroes. Dekka, Shade, Cruz, Malik, Armo, and a new mutant with unmatched powers, are all that stand in Dillon’s way. But when the lines begin to blur between hero and villain—some begin to wonder who’s really the monster.

Praise for Monster:

“Ratchets up the gore and action, and features a diverse cast of characters. An evocative, intricately plotted companion series.” –ALA Booklist

The overall story was great, and definitely a work of art. But the characters and events weren't built up well as they were in the original six, the villains had big buildups but didn't get any climax, and there was just to much politics. And I swear to God if the Chimera doesn't have a massive role in the next novel I'm gonna be dissatisfied. But I love your books

To Mr. Michael Grant: I have bought and read every book in the Gone series. I have loved them from the start, from the happiness that began the journey, to the loss felt by every character, major and minor, throughout. Villain is no exception. I have only written reviews a few times, mostly just things like, "great (thing), 5 stars," or, "could use some improvement, 1-4 stars." I'm not an expert on giving reviews, nor do intend to be one. But, since I waited a very, very long time to read this book, I felt the need to write this. Mr. Grant, I hope you read this review. I can't wait for Hero, because I know you and your wife poured your hearts and souls into this series, just like Animorphs (a staple of my childhood, by the way). I know you have probably heard this hundreds of thousands of times, maybe even millions, but thank you. Thank you for continuing this series. Thank you for writing - no, creating - such beautiful masterpieces. And thank you for being all inclusive. Many writers "try-hard," or extremely overthink and overproduce, when it comes to inclusiveness of gender and race. I felt as if, while you were drafting this series (especially Monster and Villain), you didn't even have to think about how Cruz felt inside. It flowed so perfectly that it almost seemed Cruz herself wrote instead of you. In this day and age, people are becoming way too divided. I won't go into politics, but that's a part. But, I digress slightly. My point is, Mr. Grant, your style of writing flows smoother than water, and I hope everyone who reads your books agrees. Because you, sir, are a magnificent author, and when I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars, I meant it with all my heart. Thank you for reading this review, and I hope you have a beautiful day/night. Sincerely, Bailey Kendall-Tighe

About the author

Michael Grant, author of the Gone series, the Messenger of Fear series, the Magnificent Twelve series, and the Front Lines trilogy, has spent much of his life on the move. Raised in a military family, he attended ten schools in five states, as well as three schools in France. Even as an adult he kept moving, and in fact he became a writer in part because it was one of the few jobs that wouldn’t tie him down. His fondest dream is to spend a year circumnavigating the globe and visiting every continent. Yes, even Antarctica. He lives in California with his wife, Katherine Applegate, with whom he cowrote the wildly popular Animorphs series.
