This book had me captivated, and constantly had me wondering what would happen next involving the main character Reza, buy this book it definitely has unexpected twists and turns which, sadly is hard to find in this day and age where being an author is like being a rapper, the talent is so bad everybody thinks they can do it, which translates to bad art but this book does not fall under that category

Somewhat slow beginning, but as Reza's training and life among his captors progresses the pace picks up while bringing more emotion and emotional struggle than one usually finds in military science fiction. I really felt Reza. Very good read, that could bring new readers to the genre.

Coming of age penny dreadful. Mary Sue, child sex, "us vs them", Deus Ex Machina - this is a serious turn for the worse for a series that started so well.

About the author

Born in 1963, Michael Hicks grew up in the age of the Apollo program and spent his youth glued to the television watching the original Star Trek series and other science fiction movies, which continues to be a source of entertainment and inspiration. Having spent the majority of his life as a voracious reader, he has been heavily influenced by writers ranging from Robert Heinlein to Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven, and David Weber to S.M. Stirling. Living in Maryland with his beautiful wife, two wonderful stepsons and two mischievous Siberian cats, he continues to work full-time while dreaming and writing.
