About this ebook

Two secret lovers. Three high-profile murders. One family annihilator. A shocking true crime exposé from the author of American Exorcism.

From adultery . . .

Ex-Marine and bodyguard Chris Coleman was a family man with a secret: He wanted to leave his wife for another woman, Tara Lintz. But as head of security for the world-famous Joyce Meyer Ministries—an evangelical organization that frowns on divorce—Coleman had to make other plans.

to murder . . .

On May 5, 2009, Illinois police received a call from Coleman, who claimed he was unable to contact his family. When investigators arrived at his home, they found Coleman’s wife and two sons strangled in bed. Across the walls, spray-painted in red, were various obscenities—the word punished among them.

to life—or death.

Who could have done something so sinister? As Coleman played the part of a grieving husband, forensic evidence at the crime scene told a different story. Key testimony from Lintz afforded yet more evidence of Coleman’s guilt—and soon a jury would find him guilty of three counts of murder in the first degree.

Praise for Michael W. Cuneo’s American Exorcism

“Mesmerizing . . . Lucidly written and riveting as any horror novel, Cuneo’s excursion into the darker paths of American faith offers a deeply disturbing, ironic vision.” —Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“Cuneo is both a skeptical and sensitive observer.” —The Nation

“An engaging and detailed document of a provocative subculture.” —Kirkus Reviews

This is such an unnecessary, tragic event. Chris Coleman is the devil on Earth. If you are anti-death penalty, this sad excuse for a human being, (using human loosely here) would change your mind. What he did to his family, is the reason why the death penalty was created. It's called a divorce Chris! Not strangling to death your petite wife, and 2 small boys that you raised for 9 and 11 years. You are a disgusting object. I can't even call you human, because I don't think you are human. And for all of the Christian element to this horrific story, just boggles the mind. It seems some of the most religious people, commit some of the most horrific crimes. David Koresh, Ted Haggard, Jim Jones (Jonestown), etc. I could go on and on, but I would rather not. This book broke everything down for me, after watching the 48 Hours episode (Writing on the Wall). Very well written and not drawn/dragged out. Good read, and worth the time to read it.

Took me forever to finish. It starts out slow and stays that way. The author unfortunately is not that great of a story teller.

I'm the slowest reader normally but I finished this book in one day. Writer's a little lame at times but has streaks of expertise.
