About the author

Michaela Pfadenhauer, a university professor of sociology, is vice dean of the Faculty for Humanitities and Social Sciences at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). She is a member of the council of the German Sociological Association and the advisory board of the sociological journal Soziale Interaktion. Peter L. Berger is university professor of religion and sociology and director of the Institute for the Study of Economic Culture at Boston University.
