About this eBook

In over her head

After escaping a jealous husband, Lana Gregory is done with men. Especially chauvinistic bullies like rival boat captain, Elias Sobol. But after she falls overboard during a storm, she’s stranded on a remote Alaskan island with the very man she hopes to avoid.

The catch of a lifetime

The first day Elias laid eyes on Lana, his selkie soul recognized she was his mate. The feeling is not mutual, however, and the stubborn female has hated him from the start. He's forced to watch from afar, and it's a good thing he has, because now her very life is in his hands.

Deepest secret

As the frigid Alaskan wilderness presses in and the heat between them builds, Lana wonders why she ever thought Elias was the enemy. Until he reveals his true nature, and she’s blown off course. She’s just learning to trust again… but can she trust a man who truly isn’t what he seems?

Reader note: This book contains explicit language and sexual situations. It is intended for audiences 17 years and older.

This is another wonderful story written in this series. This story is about Captain Elias Sobol, a selkie shifter, and Lana a struggling fishing boat captain. Elias goes to a bar to support his friend Bobby's band gig when he scents his mate. Elias spies her sitting at the bar and when a man kisses her. He realizes that the man is her husband who begins to fight him so he leaves. A year later Lana's husband, Peter, died and she runs a fishing operation. Elias who also runs a fishing operation moved to keep tabs on her, but she does not like him. Against storm warnings, Lana decides to take her boat to catch salmon and falls overboard. Elias who followed her rescues her and takes her to a island. Will this be Elias chance to persuade Lana to be his mate? I volunteer to read and review this ARC.

Midnight Heat is book 7 in the Alaska Alpha's series and the second of Mrs. Ley's additions. You don't have to read either Bewitched Shifter or the others in the series to enjoy this fun little romp, but you'll know a good number of the side characters if you read at least that one. Also: it's just fun, so why not? The books all take place in Alaska and these two most specifically in Kenai, so you'll get lots of fun with cold times, right from the start. Lana is a struggling fishing boat captain and Elias is a seal shifter who captains another fishing boat with his crew/clan. The two of them have had something of a long standing 'rivalry' of sorts due to Lana's late husbands dislike of Elias. For his part, Elias has known that Lana is his true mate for years but can't seem to manage to make the transition from enemy to lover that he so desperately wants. This book is about when he gets, and takes, that opportunity when Lana gets tossed overboard during a storm. This book is something of a classic enemies to lovers romance with shfiters, Alaskan storms, loving yet mutinous crew mates, heaps of steamy attraction, bribery in the form of baked goods, deserted island sanctuaries, and new beginnings-with flippers!- that should definitely leave you smiling.
