About this ebook

Feed is an electrifying and critically acclaimed novel of a world a half-step from our own that the New York Times calls “Astonishing” — a novel of zombies, geeks, politics, social media, and the virus that runs through them all — from New York Times bestseller Mira Grant.

The year was 2014. We had cured cancer. We had beat the common cold. But in doing so we created something new, something terrible that no one could stop. The infection spread, virus blocks taking over bodies and minds with one, unstoppable command: FEED.

Now, twenty years after the Rising, Georgia and Shaun Mason are on the trail of the biggest story of their lives—the dark conspiracy behind the infected. The truth will out, even if it kills them.

Much like the author Mira Grant, a self proclaimed quirky and altogether unusual person, Feed is an original story that throws a new light on the age old tale of zombie epidemics. However, Grant is not afraid to throw tradition to the wind, as she takes a more practical outlook on the conditions necessary for such a situation to occur. The story center on young adult blogger Georgia Mason, at a time when the media focus has switched from official stations to a more personalized approach. Georgi and (cont.)

The pro: Talented writer who obviously put a lot of thought and research into the book. The con: I was left not caring page after page. Bottom line: It may sound ludicrous for someone into zombie fiction to say that they couldn't accept the portrait being painted of the characters, their work, or their world as realistic, but frankly, I never once found myself believing in anything about this story. Strange as it may seem I think the whole Blogger angle which is the books vehicle is what sunk the novel. The author needed a good editor to let her know that she needed less exposition about Bloggers in the world of undead and more *ahem* meat to the story itself. It's a shame because the premises of a presidential election after the dead have risen is an interesting angle alone.

This is not a story about the zombie apocalypse. It's a story about what comes after, how the existence of zombies change the world. It's not a horror story that can scare you, and then you go back to the real world. This is a 'through the looking glass' book, which shows you the world you already know, but different. And it's that much creepier, because the world you're reading about feels real.
