About this ebook

She came searching for an alpha to claim her, and who was I to deny the omega her desire?

I couldn’t take another moment of derision. The alphas of my village had put me down for the last time, their rude comments pushing me to abandon my home in search of a new one.

I’d heard the rumors. The whispers of monsters stealing human omegas to claim as their own. I wasn’t foolish enough to think I could survive on my own in the wild, so climbing the mountain had seemed like the best choice.

By the time he found me I had been half convinced I would die alone, but his scent was enough to trigger my heat. One way or another, I would wear the Monster’s Mark, and the other alphas would never laugh at me again.

***This is the eighth book in the Monsters in the Mountains series but it can be read as a standalone.***

Monsters can wear many faces and come in all shapes and sizes. In this case they wear a very familiar one face. Kaia is a human omega being "given" to an alpha in her village by her father. The thing is, this particular male has long tormented her and there seems to be no escape from him. She knows what kind of life she would be consigned to and that this would be the end of her. The only hope of a future is to run. Ta’hir is on berry picking duty but if he hadn't been he would never have found Kaia. While their relationship appears to develop very quickly it still manages to do so gently. While he may have appeared strange and frightening she quickly saw that he was kind and compassionate. A very far cry the alpha she was running from. I loved how Ta'hir tries to bend things to fit his purpose but without being cruel or truly going against his clan.

This is the first book that I've read from this series, but I'll be going back to read others. I really like these bite size novellas, especially when I'm in a slump. Kaia was running from the village alphas, and heard about the monsters in the mountains. Ta'hir was a young Alpha hoping to get his own omega after seeing others from his tribe. If you're looking for a quick omegaverse with nesting, kn0tting and heat.. this is perfect. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Kaia ran from the humiliation and continued unkindness in her village to the mountains and uncertainty. Heading towards the rumours and hope of finding a monster who might claim and care for her. Ta'hir is out foraging for food thinking on a plan to find his own human omega and end his loneliness. When these two come together fear, miscommunication and misunderstandings need to be negotiated before they can seal their bond. A short, sweet story with moments of danger and uncertainty but plenty of passion. An enjoyable, fast paced, page turner.
