Laughter and desire make a great book that I absolutely adored! MONTANA WILD is the 4th book in Vanessa Vale’s Small Town Romance series and it freaking rocked! I think this one is the best of the whole series to date because I laughed so hard at times that I thought I would hurt myself. Two of my favorite characters are back and the hilarity was so spot on. Goldie is definitely at her best in her role of matchmaker and she goes from one step of crazy hijinks directly to the next without fail and with hilarious ease. George the Gnome also plays a big part of this story, as he has the others, and with just as much hilarity that an inanimate object can have. This book is about Mike and Violet, and these two shoot of sparks and laughs. Throw in a crazy women that wants to have a man, even if he is unwilling, and you have a recipe that is bound to be disastrous. For Violet and Mike, it is hilariously so. All Mike asked was for Violet to play his pretend girlfriend to get the crazy Alaskan woman off his back, but before she even lands it has already morphed into another issue that she didn’t see coming and Mike had to fall back on. Throw in a family reunion, French twins that think Violet would be perfect for them, and awakening possessiveness and you have a great book that I thoroughly enjoyed.

A gnome goes to Nome and Grandma Goldie ties all the stories together beautifully! I was already hooked on this couple two books ago, when they were first mentioned. I was so glad to read their full story! Mike and Violet had a brief but meaningful romance at the end of high school, but then his summer plans and subsequent career took him away from Bozeman, leaving Violet wondering just what she meant to him. When Mike calls from a family reunion needing a fake girlfriend to fend off the barracuda next door, Violet agrees to play along. From this point, things get REALLY out of hand and it's absolutely hilarious to watch! I can't begin to catalog all the hijinks; suffice it to say it was loads of fun, sneaky twists you don't see coming, steamy looks and gift boxes of toys and more men than Violet can handle! And the twist at the end - when Mike realizes what started the whole thing - simply priceless! The writing is instantly captivating, the characters are engaging, and the action is non-stop. So much fun! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

IT WAS A DEFCON ONE SITUATION The fourth story in the Small Town Romance series has many characters from previous stories, and it packs a punch within the pages. Yes, Goldie and her sex shop, Goldilocks play a major role in this story and of course, the Garden Gnome, George will be involved. The story is part mystery, suspense, part comedy, secrets, white lies, and romance. This is the story of high school friends and one time lovers but now ten years later, the story of Dr. Mike Ostranski and school teacher, Violet Miller. The school year is out for summer break, and Violet if filling in at Goldilocks for her sister, Veronica when a frantic call will come from Mike needing help, first asking for Veronica and then begging Violet to come to help him out, in Anchorage, Alaska. Violet was using her time at Goldilocks to gather more info for her word porn, not that she would do anything with it after she wrote her stories. “Goldie was my excuse, the perfect cover for my nefarious word porn writing. My view of the world is shifting from the ABCs to XXX.” With the insistence of Goldie and the help of Jane, Violet will leave for Alaska for a week to be the “pretend” girlfriend to Mike, but it changes at the airport to “pretend” fiancée. How are they going to pull this off without making people mad? She is already afraid of his mother, Mrs. O, and things go from crazy to unbelievable immediately. The only thing that will make this difficult is Mike is the one she has never got over. The man she gave her virginity to, and then he left. “If being with you now is anything like high school, there may not be much pretending.” At times, some of the situations are like a comedy of errors, but they keep everyone believing that Mike and Violet are truly engaged. Some of the family members are eccentric, then Goldie shows up and gets in the middle of the fairy-tale adventure, throw in a sex-crazed neighbor wanting Mike, and two French foreign twins who don’t speak English and hitting on Violet. “I might not have caught a fish, but It’s possible I might have caught me a man. And maybe I just had to start reeling him in. “ “Planes, trains, and automobiles. With Goldie and Mrs. O. I would never complain about tutoring boogie-faced kids ever again.” Once again, Goldie oversteps and gets involved with the erotic story she had Violet write and now it has been published and become an overnight success. Violet is seeing her teaching career in danger, and what will Mike think when he reads her word porn? Will he shun her and be embarrassed, or will he be impressed with her fantasy writing? “It was working—Hook, line, and sinker. Decadent, dominant, and just a tiny bit dirty.” The story is a fun second chance romance. You can’t help but love the sassiness of Goldie who doesn’t have a shy bone in her body, or afraid to say whatever is on her mind. While the story does have a sex scene, it isn’t overly emphasized. The romance between Mike and Violet makes this story special.
