Moonless Moonlight' is a fiction in the form of a fable comprised of nineteen chapters that takes on issues related to the Covid pandemic. Each chapter introduces a narrator, portrayed through birds, fish, reptiles, and four-legged forest denizens. From the Bear to the Koel to the Tiger and the Whale, and many others present in the nocturnal meeting held under a gigantic banyan tree in a moonlit forest of the melancholic world threatened by a bleak future and tomorrow-less today. The story deals with matters that affect all of mankind and portrays almost every available information about Covid 19 and the Corona Virus, about the probable causes and the probable cures, about lifestyle, and in the process, through the eyes of these remarkable characters author tells us, through philosophy, through India’s great sages, poets and thinkers, and as humbly as possible, what Nature expects from us, humans. There is a sophistication of thought here, a gentle turn and dignity not usually found in most fiction nowadays.

An IPS officer of the 2003 batch of Tripura Cadre presently posted as the IGP (Law & Order) in the state, Nath’s stint with the pen has been in sync with his achievements as a police officer, both on the field as well as on the desk. Having began his career as a teacher at Kamalpur Class-XII School where he served for four years, his illustrious service life has brought him numerous recognitions including President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service (2011) and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (2018). What began as a pastime gradually developed into a passion so engrossing that Mr. Nath has been ceaselessly contributing in newspapers, journals and social media with élan. Recognised as a litterateur, both in Tripura and beyond, he has eleven books to his credit. Mr. Nath’s pen revolves around his journey of life to craft stories and fiction out of a vast treasure trove of interesting experiences. He is the recipient of the Aditya Mallabarman Award, Sukamal Biswas Memorial Award, Rabindra Parishad Award, Sunday Times Kolkata Award (selected) and other recognitions for his literary corpus. The present book is a bilingual fiction;‘????????’in Bengali and ‘Moonless Moonlight’ in English, which is a curious take on the pandemic scenario in the form of a modern fable and promises to be happy reading.
