The work commonly known as the Letter of Aristeas presents an account of the genesis of the Septuagint, and incidentally reflects currents of religious thought at a significant period of history. About the author
Moses Hadas (1900-1966) was Jay Professor of Greek at Columbia University and the author, editor, and translator of many books in Greek and Latin literature as well as Judaica.
