A theoretical approach for the determination of the response of damped structural components to periodic non-sinusoidal and transient dynamic loadings is available through use of superposition principles for linear viscoelastic materials. Little experimental data is available, however, which verifies the applicability of this approach to damping materials which exhibit a fair degree of linearity under single frequency excitation.
