This is the first Grady Hendrix book I've read, but I can assure you that it certainly won't be the last! I loved every minute of this book and found myself fully immersed in Abby and Gretchen's world. I laughed, cried, laughed and then cried some more. Hendrix crafts a thrilling story about drugs, demonic possession, bodybuilding Christians, and the unbreakable bond of true friendship.

The cover drew me in, as did 80s nostalgia references like Stranger Things, but found it slow and drawn out, took ages to get going, the middle section particularly, started skipping and reading only dialogue to see what happens, Grady needs to work on his pacing

This book did an amazing job at pulling me into the story. I thought I knew how it would end, but it caught me off guard. A few tears later, here I am writing this comment. 10/10 would recommend.

Grady Hendrix is an award-winning novelist and screenwriter living in New York City. He is the author of Horrorstör, My Best Friend’s Exorcism, We Sold Our Souls, and the New York Times bestselling The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires, which is being adapted into a series by Amazon Studios. Grady also authored the Bram Stoker Award-winning nonfiction book, Paperbacks from Hell, a history of the horror paperback boom of the ’70s and ’80s.
