About this ebook

My poems are my My Kit of Knowledge, they were written over a period of 40 years. I would write a lot because words were always swirling around in my head. My lack of education hampered me. I didn't have much faith in my abilities. Then I remembered my old school motto PERSEVERENCE GAINS HONOR', and no matter what, I persevered. In August 2012 a feeling came over me, that I needed to share my poems, that it was my time to fly. I contacted Xlibris they became my launching pad. Xlibris is helping me to fly. My gratitude to them. I am a mother of 5 children, 2 daughters, and 3 sons. My eldest child a son has passed away. I have 10 mokopuna (grandchildren). I am in all of my poems, my children and mokopuna will have a lot of years to discover me. Have faith in your own ability to even achieve the impossible. Arohanui (big love ) Kate

About the author

Hi my name is Kate and I was born in Auckland New Zealand, December 1942. My father is a New Zealand Maori with Irish and English bloodlines. My mother was born in Edinburgh Scotland. Mum came to New Zealand when she was 2 years old. I am the eldest child born from their union. I started writing Poetry about 40 years ago. The first poem I wrote was "The ranks within". My writing was intermittent, maybe 1 poem every 5 years. One of the schools I went to had a school motto "Perseverence gains Honour". I have always kept this as one of my codes to live by. My husband baptised me a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints in 1973, and another period of learning began from that day forth. My faith has always been my strength. A poet is an observer, and so it is I am an observer, trying to convey to the reader what I see or feel. I am grateful to Heavenly Father for the many gifts He has given me, especially my talents in my hands. My Maori poems are who I am, please enjoy my poems, and I hope you will find my peace.
