This is a very easy explanation of the chess. When I read this book, many of my age old conceptions were answered automatically. This book provides the information in an interesting way. It explains the various ways of playing this game. It explains the roles of all the pawns simply and interestingly. This game was being played in India since long. But, it was seriously nurtured in Arabstan, Iran, etc. It is a known fact that the Mogul Sardars played this game using real human beings in place of the pawns. There are books written in English on mostly all subjects, for all levels. Even Hindi language covers a lot of subjects; but according to me in Marathi this book is the first of its type covering this topic so well. I have not yet come across any other wonderful, interesting and informative book like this in Marathi. I must thank the author for such an interesting piece of work. You may be an expert in chess, or may be a newcomer, you may be old and wise enough or many be very young, this book will surely be the most useful guide for you. ‘बुद्धिबळ खेळ’ म्हणजे दोन बुद्धिवंतांमधील लढा आहे. बुद्धिबळ खेळ एक श्रमिक कार्य होऊ शकते किंवा बुद्धिबळ खेळ श्रमपरिहारक मौजेची लूट होऊ शकते. तेव्हा बुद्धिबळाचा डाव म्हणजे माणसाच्या मेंदूला उत्तम व्यायाम घडवून त्याचा तल्लखपणा वाढविणारा सोज्ज्वळ करमणुकीचा उच्च प्रकार होय. हे सारे नवोदितांना सहज समजण्यासाठी ‘बुद्धिबळ शिका’ हे खास पुस्तक लिहिले आहे. या पुस्तकात बुद्धिबळ खेळण्याची तंत्रे व सूत्रे अनेक आकृत्यांनिशी समजावून सांगितली आहेत. खेळाचे नियमही दिले आहेत. प्रत्येक प्रकरणाशेवटी स्वाध्यायासाठी चाचणी-प्रश्न टाकले आहेत आणि जिज्ञासू वाचकांना आपापली उत्तरे पडताळून पाहता यावीत, म्हणून अखेरीस त्या सर्व प्रश्नांची उत्तरेही दिली आहेत. कुठलाही खेळ म्हटला, की त्यात करमणूक ही आलीच; परंतु करमणुकीबरोबर बुद्धिचापल्य, मनाची एकाग्रता. सोशिकपणा व तर्कशास्त्राचा योग्य उपयोग या गोष्टीही बुद्धिबळाच्या खेळातून सहज साध्य होतात, हे लक्षात घेतले पाहिजे. हे सारे पाहून ज्यांना हा खेळ शिकण्याची तीव्र इच्छा होते, अशा नवोदितांसाठी किंवा नियमित खेळाडूंसाठी हे मार्गदर्शक पुस्तक तयार केले आहे. त्यांना ते आवडेल आणि उपयुक्त ठरेल, आणि मार्गदर्शक म्हणून नित्य हाताशी ठेवावेसे वाटेल.
