Did I like this story? Very much so. I enjoy time-travel stories. They can be an amazing blend of everything modern versus historical, or vice versa depending on how the story is written. This one was a bit different. It begins in modern times with Aidan and Emmaline meeting thanks to his cousin Colin, who owns Celtic Connections. Although Aidan is, it me, the personification of a very modern man, his mannerisms reflect when he's truly from. His need to shield and protect and defend Emmaline was darling, especially since Emmaline, despite being worried sick about her ex, is stronger than she appears to be. Whereas Aidan is truly a Medieval Irish warrior, Emmaline is truly a modern day woman and her ability to hold her own in the toughest of times shines as brightly as Aidan's feelings for her. The trip back to the past took me by surprise. Since this is (duh!) a time travel romance, I can't say why I was surprised just that I was. But it was still incredible, mainly because Aidan was finally home but that Emmaline was living in a time period she was obsessed with. That Aidan was there to assure her everything was real and not a dream made the transition to the past for her that much easier for me to accept. This story isn't without trouble except neither Emmaline nor Aidan would face it alone or without each other. Family came through in the biggest way imaginable for Emmaline and Aidan. If I wasn't sold on their happily ever after by that point, the solidarity given in that moment of need and distress did it for me. Aidan and Emmaline's story is one I'll probably read again. It's a journey of love that defies time, adventure, danger, and happiness. They might be from different centuries but Aidan and Emmaline learn that love knows no boundaries.
