Most weeds are found in home gardens and are easily accessible. We call them weeds because we do not have to care of these plants. Weeds, in many cases can be used to fight the flu, cough, ease indigestion, threat poison ivy rashes, snake bites, joint pains and even make a tasty meal as a salad. You may be surprised to learn that identifying weeds in your own yard can be beneficial.
This e-book is also intended to serve as a reference guide and create interest among students and scientists to study the wonder of the weeds in greater detail. The weeds are picturesquely presented to enable readers to recognise them at a glance. Their medicinal properties and traditional uses are also highlighted.

Dr. Abdul Ghani Hussain is a renowned figure in Langkawi after practicing Medicine on the island more than 30 years, both as a medical doctor and a traditional healer. He has set aside his medical practice to focus on the study of Traditional Malay Medicine and Islamic Medicine. He has been actively collecting medicinal plants since the year 2000, with a collection of more than 500 different species to-date, which is still growing steadily. He also has compendium of books about natural remedies written as far back as thousands of years ago. His interest began was when he found the full text of the famed Qanun fil Tibb of Ibn Sina - a copy printed in Rome dating back to 1593.
Prof Dr. Normah Mohd Noor FASc is the Principal Research Fellow of the Institute of Systems Biology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Her research on cryopreservation and conservation of tropical recalcitrant fruit species, particularly of Garcinia, Citrus and Nephelium, has led to the development of techniques for the long-term conservation and micropropagation of these important species. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia.
Dr. Khatijah Hussin is a Plant Anatomist, who previously worked at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Faculty of Science and Technology (FST). She is the co-authored the guidebook, ‘Taman Herba FST’, about medicinal plants together with Dr. Abdul Ghani Hussain. She has written five volumes on the Anatomical Atlas of Malaysian Medicinal Plants.
