This is the story of the first Blitz and the first Battle of Britain, featuring a full account of the first Zeppelin crash site excavation and also covering airfields, gun sites, searchlights, and radio listening posts. About the author

Neil Faulkner has written extensively on archaeology, including The Sedgeford Hoard, and The Decline and Fall of Roman Britain, among others, and lectures on archaeology, ancient history and classical civilisation. He is the editor of the magazine Current Archaeology, and among other activities, is involved in excavating an Anglo-Saxon village and cemetery as well as First World War remains related to the 1915-18 air war over Britain. He has appeared on Time Team, Timewatch and Channel 5's Revealed series.
