About this eBook

With barely enough time to recover from helping out Miles in London, Nico is off to Australia … and a secret mission involving a US covert operative …

When an American undercover operative’s sister goes missing in Australia, Nico has to find out if this is connected to the operative or to the sister’s own activist background. Apparently she made enemies easily.

Charlotte hadn’t wanted to make this trip in the first place, preferring to communicate her polarizing messages through writing her books now. But, bowing under pressure, she finally arrives in Australia, only to be attacked within minutes of reaching her hotel room for the night. After her rescue, she’s forced to dig deep into her family and public life to find the mastermind kidnapper and to stay safe as the bodies pile up.

Nothing makes sense in this twisted mission, but Nico is determined to keep Charlotte safe, even as things take a more personal turn …

I received a complimentary copy if this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This is one that was a little difficult to read. I don't know if it is me or what but the female protagonist was very antagonistic a great deal of the time. I get being cranky when tired and she wasn't getting quality sleep but man I just wanted to throw her several dirty looks myself like Nico and Keane did on occasion. Maybe it is me but it seems like several of the female protagonists of late are just annoying to me. That could be because I am older and if I was told to do something by my rescuers, I would. I did like the dual POV format that the book is written in. It usually helps me to connect with the characters but I really didn't feel anything for Charlotte. There is a sexy scene but it was highly glossed over and should not offend anyone but I would not recommend this to anyone under the age of 18.

Nico is an ex-Navy SEAL that is now working with a black ops organization referred to as the Mavericks. His mission is to find Charlotte, a kidnapped activist who was supposed to be giving a speech in Australia. The Mavericks are involved since Charlotte has a brother who is an undercover government agent that might be compromised by local authority involvement. Nico and his teammate find Charlotte at the hotel where she was taken without too much trouble, but to ensure she is safe they need to find the person responsible. In typical Dale Mayer style the story ends with the mystery solved and the start of a budding romance between Nico and Charlotte. I can not wait to read the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Nico got his wish. He wanted a mission of his own and did he ever get one. When a friend or colleague as for help you don't brush it off you jump right in head off to parts unknown and help. Meanwhile, Charlotte doesn't have a clue as to why she has been abducted but she isn't going to stay around to find out if she can help it. Drama, intrigue, and sparks fly. These books just get better. I love how the author brings to life issues in our world. It isn't the same old background story. Romance is a given of course. Hunky Seal meets a pretty lady sparks are bound to fly. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
