A second chance romance read with spice. This started of a little different from the author previous book, but it still was an enjoyable read. We have a group of high school friends enjoying their summer when tragedy struck. This affected each individual differently but more so for Penelope and Peter who this story focuses on. It has all the drama and heat level that a second chance romance has with the added spicy sizzle. I love seeing how their lives played out and am defiantly interested in finding out what happens to everyone.

'Punishing Penelope' is the first book in Nicolina Martin's "West Coast Doms" series. It begins with seven friends right before the summer break. Peter has fallen in love with Penelope, aka Penn, but she has feelings for both Peter, the good guy who makes her feel safe, and Stephan, the bad boy who fills that wild need she has. Just when Penn decides she wants what Peter is offering tragedy strikes and changes the lives of all seven of them. Fast forward eight years. Time marches on and this small band of friends has grown and gone their separate ways. Once tall and lanky, Peter has grown into himself and now works in the police force. Penn has also grown up but has gone a completely different route and is a crime-fighting journalist. When Peter catches Penn in his office doing something she's not supposed to, he takes things into his own hands. Nicolina Martin has given us a second-chance romance with all the guilt, envy, revenge, passion, and some rather hot non-con scenes to go with their happy ending. It's absolutely worth the one-click.

*** ARC Provided for Honest Review *** This was not one of my best reads, but I do feel that I will give the author another try. The first thirty to forty percent of the book was the back story for the actual meat of the book. The beginning was to slow, too much, information and not enough flow for me really to engage or enjoy. The ending was not much better. The two of them of them getting in the manner they did just really strikes me as so wrong. I know this is a dark romance, but the characters have to connect in some type of realistic fashion.
