The first part of the micro-course presents a description of ISDN technology in a nutshell: - operation of the protocol and the division into logical channels, - differences in the types of access, - list of protocols that make up the ISDN, - ISDN devices definitions and benchmarks, - advantages of ISDN, - additional services in ISDN, In the second part of the micro-course we discuss PPP protocol mainly used for IP protocol transfer in point-to-point connections, eg. to connect a computer to the Internet via cable or GSM modem. When discussing the PPP we present stack of protocols building up this technology and its functions. The course covers authentication protocols and parameters to negotiate protocol transmitted by PPP. We also present structure of the PPP frame and protocol additional capabilities.
