This is the book to which full credit for priority in the publication of a theory of evolution by natural selection must be given. It is the only book that can ever be regarded as qualified to receive that credit. The Origin of Species is a Johnny-come-lately, by some 27 years! And it was only cited by Darwin after Matthew brought the public's attention to his own prior work, and even then in a back-handed manner that pretended to blame its author for his not knowing about it (though he probably knew it quite well) and that suggested that Matthew had not presented his ideas with any clarity.

Darwin and Wallace both plagiarized this book and then lied when they claimed no prior knowledge of it. See 'Nullius in Verba: Darwin's greatest secret' for a wealth of unique evidence as to whom Darwin and Wallace both knew who actually can be proven to have read it, because they cited it in the literature! So what were Darwin and Wallace, were they Schnooks or Crooks? Matthew is an immortal great thinker in science. Darwin and Wallace are both science swindlers. Darwinists are members of a biased adoration cult that refuses to engage with the newly discovered hard facts. Oh yes and I forgot to mention that 'Nullius in Verba' proves fraud by way of plagiarism detection of Darwin's and Wallace's published and unpublished work compared with Matthew's On Naval Timber. Moreover, Darwin told six lies to achieve primacy of Matthew and every one of the eight excuses he fabricated as to why he supposedly never read Matthew's book is uniquely proven to be fallacious. Natural selection was discovered by a Scottish forester. There is now only one proven independent discoverer of natural selection. His name is Patrick Matthew and he published his discovery of the most important theory in sc

This book is cited by Darwin in the introduction to subsequent issues of Origin of Species as having anticipated his theory of Natural Selection. See Appendices Notes B and F in particular.
