Origen ne invită să parcurgem împreună drumul de la sclavie la libertate, așa cum este el înțeles în Exodul biblic. Actul interpretării devine astfel participare, iar Exodul, consideră exegetul creștin, este vocația fiecărui individ: fiecare dintre noi este o ființă aflată în „exod“. Cititorul este invitat de exeget să-și regăsească „locul propriu“. Doar această relocare, doar acest „exod“ va reda semnificația corectă a unui faimos (și controversat) pasaj biblic, adnotat de către Origen în acest volum, cel privitor la „încremenirea“, prin acțiune divină, a inimii Faraonului.
