About this eBook

Three generations of women in the Ferrari family must heal the broken pieces of their lives on a trip of a lifetime through picturesque Italy from New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Probst

Workaholic, career-obsessed Francesca is fiercely independent and successful in all areas of her life except one: family. She struggles to make time for her relationship with her teenage daughter, Allegra, and the two have become practically strangers to each other. When Allegra hangs out with a new crowd and is arrested for drug possession, Francesca gives in to her mother's wish that they take one epic summer vacation to trace their family roots in Italy. She just never expected to face a choice that might change the course of her life. . .

Allegra wants to make her grandmother happy, but she hates the idea of forced time with her mother and vows to fight every step of the ridiculous tour, until a young man on the verge of priesthood begins to show her the power of acceptance, healing, and the heartbreaking complications of love.

Sophia knows her girls are in trouble. A summer filled with the possibility for change is what they all desperately need. Among the ruins of ancient Rome, the small churches of Assisi, and the rolling hills of Tuscany, Sophia hopes to show her girls that the bonds of family are everything, and to remind them that they can always lean on one another, before it's too late.

5 star Review Our Italian Summer by Jennifer Probst What a beautifully written, emotional journey Our Italian Summer was. This is a story of three generations of Ferrari women who for a variety of reasons all embark on a trip of a lifetime to Italy. Their journey will effect them all in different ways and bring life changing experiences not only individually but for their relationships as a family. Sophia is the matriarch and she is struggling with health issues, her daughter Francesca is a busy and successful career focused workaholic and her granddaughter 18 year old Allegra is at a cross roads in her life. I was fully invested in this story; perhaps because I was in Italy the year before last, I could easily picture the sights as they explored Rome and Tuscany such was the descriptive writing. This is not so much a romance story (although there is romance) but a story of re building family relationships, of taking stock and looking deep inside ourselves and coming to terms with what you find, of soul searching and reflecting on life as well as healing. Told in multiple points of view, this story was at times an emotional roller coaster as walls are brought down brick by brick and the unconditional love of family brings much needed re-connecting for three generations of women. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

Our Italian Summer was my most anticipated book for 2021, and it didn't disappoint. Jennifer Probst takes us along on a journey to Italy, and what a journey it is; she introduced us to the Ferrari women, three generations; Sophia, Francesca, and Allegra. Each one carrying their own weight on their shoulders. Sophia lost her parents when she was only 15 years old and went to live with the neighbor next door who had a son around Sophia's age; both her parents were from Naples. So the trip was significant for her to reconnect to her past and help her daughter Francesca reconnect to her daughter, Allegra. This book touched my soul. It made me appreciate the special trip I'd taken with my own mother to England & Scotland, seeing the place where her ancestors were from. Once your parents pass, it makes you wonder about everything you didn't know and wished that you spent more time getting to know the people who created you, raised you, and answer so many questions. Now I'm looking forward to going to see where my father was born. It might be a few years, but it is going to be epic! When you read this story, I hope that your connection will bring you closer to your own ancestors and take you on your own journey. "Life is too short to skip the fries."
