We, as a normal human beings, get all the facilities as a citizen of our country, even these trans genders (Hijra Community) are also human beings and citizens of our country. But they are deprived of most of the things what our constitution and society has to offer in India. This novel brings forward their grievances in front of society and in doing so requests the society and our constitution to accept them.
’मी का नाही?’ हा प्रश्‍न विचारू धजणाऱ्या तृतीयपंथी समाजाची ही कहाणी! या कादंबरीची नायिका असलेल्या नाझच्या वाट्यालाही हे दु:ख येते. पण तिचे वडील सोडून सगळे कुटुंब, विशेषत: तिची आई तिला भक्कम पाठबळ देते.
या पाठबळाच्या जोरावर नाझ ’हिजडा समाज’ स्थापन करते. यातून ती या समाजाला स्वावलंबी आणि सुसंघटित तर करतेच; पण प्रसंगी कठोर भूमिका घेऊन त्यांचे प्रश्‍नही सोडवते. हिजडा समाजाला न्याय मिळवून देण्यासाठी एक चळवळ उभारते. समाजात पदोपदी होणारा अपमान, टिंगलटवाळी यांना दाद न देता निर्भीडपणे स्वत:च्या प्रश्‍नांसाठी न्यायालयापर्यंत धडक मारते. ’मी का नाही’ हा एक शोध आहे. तो किती भेदक आहे, हे कादंबरी वाचताना उमगत जाते. त्याचे उत्तर शोधताना वाचक अस्वस्थ तर होतोच; पण निरुत्तरही होतो!
