I Could Not Put It Down! This book would not usually classify as a fast read, having over 350 pages, but I classify it that way because I couldn't put it down once I started it and finished it in a day. The story of Cade and Lily was so fascinating that the time just flew by and the whole cast of characters caught and kept your interest from beginning to end. Let me just say that the hero, Cade , was by no means perfect; he could come across as the typical arrogant alpha male, but the peeks that Ms. Rice would give at his inner yearnings for home and family, and also a lack of desire to kill; well this made him a very intriguing man. The story takes place while Texas was still part of Mexico, and about a year or so before Texas became a Republic free from Mexico and not a part of the United States. The historical background adds plenty of action and color to the story, but make no mistake, this is a love story. Romantic and physical love; love between parents and children; and love for close friends as well as the loyalty to same. There are so many memorable moments in this book, but many of my favorite revolve around little 3 year old Serena. Let her and all the other characters populating this wonderful story take you on an unforgettable journey.
