About this ebook

Someone is murdering lawyers, and their ghosts are demanding justice.

Evangeline Malcolm Carstairs has never used her weird ghost-talking skills outside her hometown of Afterthought, South Carolina. But her young ward’s co-guardian—and the only man who almost understands her—has vanished out west while communing with cactus, and she’s not about to parent alone.

After learning his biological parents lived under an alias, criminal fraud lawyer Damon Ives “Jax” Jackson has gone in search of his roots, desperate to know if he’s descended from crooks. Just as he uncovers a potential murder, his bewitching co-trustee Evie arrives, and his key witness, a lawyer, drops dead.

Knowing Evie can’t leave a ghost alone, Jax returns with his too-inquisitive partner to Afterthought and the eccentric assortment of friends and family who can shield her from whatever forces he’s unleashed.

But wherever Evie goes, disturbed spirits follow.  When still another lawyer is killed, she must coax the truth from his raging ghost. But are her shaky skills up to the challenge? And will she live long enough to understand her abilities. . . and Jax?

The Golden Plan by Patricia Rice Psychic Solutions Mystery #2 Jax is in the California desert trying to deal with his past while looking for information about his father when Evie, Loretta, Reuben and Roark show up. The story begins on the West Coast, moves to the East, solves murder mysteries from the present and also current ones as Evie and Jax continue to tap dance around the chemistry between then as they live in small town, Afterthought. What I liked: * Meeting up with the characters I enjoyed spending time with in the first book * Watching the development of the relationship between Jax and Evie * That Loretta is thriving under the guardianship of Jax and Evie * Finding more out about those living in Afterthought * The military relationship that carried over into civilian life as a friendship and potential colleague relationship between Jax, Roark and Reuben * Wondering if Jax’s sister – Ariel – will be able to socialize more and perhaps fall for Roark * Wondering who will be mayor of Afterthought in the future *The quirky characters and their psychic abilities * The writing, plot and pace * Looking forward to the next book in the series What I didn’t like * Exactly who and what I was meant not to like * That there are people as wicked in real life as those in this book Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more in this series? Yes Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review. 4-5 Stars

The Golden Plan by Patricia Rice This is book 2 in the series and starts a few months after the revelations in book 1. There is enough back story to read this book as a stand-alone book. Jax is trying to come to terms with his family's back ground & reputation; he resigns from his adoptive father's law firm, sells his condo and Jaguar and sets off for California to search for answers. When Evie and Loretta track him down, he is more than ready to admit there are more questions than answers. Before heading back to Afterthought Jax and Evie make some enquiries and unwittingly set off a series of events with unexpected results that have far reaching consequences. I liked how Evie gains more confidence in her abilities and how Jax is more willing to adapt to living a less rigid life. The romance between Jax and Evie is a slow burn and continues in the next book, I really like the interactions between these two. At the end of the book, the mystery of who killed the lawyers is solved. This is a complete story with an interesting plot. No Cliff Hangers.
