About this ebook

 A young hog hunting dog finds herself lost and alone after being abandoned by her cruel owners.  They also cause the death of her littermate, who is her best friend.  She wanders for days, hungry and scared, before happening upon a ranch where Texas State Park Ranger Jake Pickett and his wife are building a log cabin near the small town of Utopia, Texas.  With trepidation, this part pit bull dog struggles to overcome her past tragedies and learn to trust enough to become a member of their family.

About the author

 After a long career in Texas public education as teacher, counselor, and principal, Dr. Patty Shafer led – Utopia ISD, Liberty ISD and San Marcos CISD.  In retirement, she has realized her lifelong dream of moving to a ranch in central Texas.  She and her husband spent over two years building their environmentally-friendly retirement home, doing most of the work themselves.

 Life adventures have involved raising three daughters—Library/Media Specialist, Crime Scene Specialist, and Attorney.  Family adventures have included camping, skydiving, river rafting, scuba diving, and private aircraft piloting.
