About this ebook

SolidWorks 2010 Part II - Advanced Techniques picks up where SolidWorks 2010 Part I - Basic Tools leaves off. Its aim is to take you from an intermediate user with a basic understanding of SolidWorks and modeling techniques to an advanced user capable of creating complex models and able to use the advanced tools provided by SolidWorks. The text covers parts, surfaces, SimulationXpress, sheet metal, top-down assemblies and core and cavity molds.

Every lesson and exercise in this book was created based on real world projects. Each of these projects have been broken down and developed into easy and comprehendible steps for the reader. Furthermore, at the end of every chapter there are self test questionnaires to ensure that the reader has gained sufficient knowledge from each section before moving on to more advanced lessons. This book takes the approach that in order to understand SolidWorks, inside and out, the reader should create everything from the beginning and take it step by step.

I already own this and the Volume I as paper books. The SDC books are particularly good tutorials and I highly recommend them. My complaints in the past have been centered around the difficulty with actually seeing the graphics. It was like the book publisher had cut back on the line thickness to save ink! My wife actually bought me a magnifier so I could see the illustrations. Add to that the fact that the paper book is not in color and it's even more annoying. The eBook improves this situation greatly. And I can press CTRL and roll the mouse wheel to easily zoom to any comfortable view; colored lines add useful information and readability. I haven't quite figured out to permanently save a local copy of the Google eBook yet but I'm pleased and will likely purchase my tutorial books in this format in the future. Note that I also own a Kindle and find it mostly useless for reading books with graphic illustrations, which tend to appear as postage stamp sized with no viable zoom.
