About this eBook

New York Times Bestseller, Pepper Winters, delivers another delicious Dark Romance.

"I'm not the hero in this story, girl. You'd do best to remember that."

Once upon a time, I was an eighteen year old psychology student.

Now, I’m a man’s property.

Stolen and sold, I’ve been decorated in bruises since the day my world changed two years ago.

I suffer in silence, I crave freedom, but I never break.

I can’t.

Until he arrives.

Elder Prest, the only man to look at me and see me. The only man more ruthless than my owner.

He wants me for reasons I don’t understand.

He claims me for one night then leaves and never looks back.

Until he returns.

And life becomes much more complicated.

I am a major Buttons fan so there aren't many similar stories that compare to me. This was one of the few that actually kept my attention and had me wanting to know more. one thing it accomplished that Buttons didn't, I cried at her letters to No One. although I got rather annoyed that she wouldn't speak, I did so knowing that it was the only thing she had left. can't wait to see what happens in Dollars.

Better than I expected. Even the climax is nice, and is properly told. What I dreaded for from ebooks with 'series' label slapped upon them is not having proper story arch and lazy cliffhangers just to bait readers to purchase the next book (meh, y'all can't fool me by lazy writing). But this is decent. This first book is about Pim and her first 'Master' and how she got away from that awful creature. Mr. Prest describes himself as "not the hero in this story" and his characterization feels rather hazy, but I do think it's worth to find out albeit I probably won't follow more of this series. Probably.

As difficult as it was to continue reading after the initial shock of the subject matter, morbid curiosity won out and I couldn't put this one down until I'd finished the book. Very compelling story. Thanks to the author for the warning.
