Synopsis:
1939: scientists from the Ahnenerbe, a special department of the SS funded by Heinrich Himmler, make an astonishing discovery inside of a block of ice. Months later, an uncomfortable meeting of bureaucrats from the German Government launches a secret operation. 1943: in his first mission over enemy territory, Sandy Smith discovers the cruelty of war upon losing his companions and killing for the first time. In spite of everything, he manages to acquire some information that can save the lives of thousands of British citizens, and which he must bring to London urgently. At the same time, in Germany, Mario Weber, a new inspector in the Gestapo, is swept along by curiosity whilst investigating a simple car accident. What appears to be a thoroughly uninteresting case soon turns into a race against the clock which will put his convictions to the test, and force him to make to make the most serious decision of his life. Tormented by their respective pasts, both enemies will establish a strange relationship of convenience whilst they are carried inexorably towards the final confrontation. It is a historical novel about friendship, bravery, betrayal, and hope.

About the author
Peter Joseph is not a doctor, lawyer, journalist, or graduate, but he has read ever since he has had use of reason, and written for almost as long. A lover of History, historical and political thrillers, and the crime novel, he burst onto the Spanish literary scene in 2013 with the publication of “Falsos Dioses” (“False Gods”), a novel which has garnered excellent reviews, and was chosen by the specialised blogs as the seventh best novel written by a Spanish author. “Falsos Dioses” maintains its position amongst the top places within the categories of historical and military history on Amazon USA, Amazon México, and Amazon España, with over 7,000 ebooks sold to date.
