About this ebook

The Servicebook lite contains information on a variety of popular tagging systems. Information has been compiled using data from our own workshop analysis and field experience (30 years experience in the E.A.S. industry) .

The aim of the manual is to provide a concise, basic version of the Universal Servicebook and cover fewer equipment types. The manual assumes the user has a basic knowledge of electronics and has had a previous introduction to tagging systems. Each piece of equipment is presented in steps, consistent with those followed during an installation or major service.

This version of Servicebook lite was first published in hardback in 2003, it has had some items edited and added for this 2013 ebook version.

Information on tagging systems is one of the few things that isn't easy to find on the Internet so save yourself lots of hassle and buy this book. If it lists the system you want then it's got all the info you need. It has all the common systems that you will come across no matter what country you are in - better to have the info before you go on site!

The author has termed this book "lite": after checking the index, then reading through the contents this is possibly because he has removed magnetic systems that appear in the original and updated service book. All significant players past and present in the field of retail EAS are here including label deactivation equipment. Installation guidance is given, including highlighting of possible problem areas and how to deal with them. Each equipment is given an appraisal of limitations and benefits, so you'll know if you've got a "wrong un" before you start. If the equipment you've got or are thinking about buying isn't in this service book you should probably reconsider your options. For the purposes of installing and servicing retail EAS equipment I highly recommend this Universal Service Book. Jonathan Smith has over 20 years years experience in Retail EAS
