I discovered Watts through Starfish, was let-down by the sequel, but thoroughly enjoyed Blindsight. It wasn't an easy read, but it was certainly interesting. This is a good way to refresh your understanding of the universe that Watts set that story in. Can't wait to find out where things are going!

This story has a lot of potential, too bad we don't get to live in this world very long. However, the price is right.

A very well written chapter. I would love to read the full book. I was genuinely shocked to find I was at the end of the story.

About the author

PETER WATTS — author of Blindsight, the so-called Rifters Trilogy, and an obscure video-game tie-in — is an ex-marine-biologist and convicted felon who seems especially popular among people who don't know him. At least, his awards generally hail from overseas except for a Hugo (won thanks to fan outrage over an altercation with Homeland Security) and a Jackson (won thanks to fan sympathy over nearly dying from flesh-eating disease). Blindsight somehow ended up as a core text for university courses ranging from Philosophy to Neuropsychology, despite an unhealthy focus on space vampires. Watts's work is available in 18 languages.
