Nikolai Wassiljewitsch Gogol (1809-1852) war ein russischer Schriftsteller ukrainischer Herkunft. Alexander Puschkin wies ihm den Weg in die russische Literatur und wurde Freund und Förderer Gogols. Gogols Novellen übten einen großen Einfluss auf die russische Literatur aus.
