Cynthia Bix grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, where family visits to historical sites that dot the East Coast—including Old Sturbridge Village, Colonial Williamsburg, and Baltimore's own Fort McHenry—sparked her early interest in American history, crafts, and everyday life.
