The tension between Doc and Olivia has flowed through the pages of the Dogs of Fire: Savannah Chapter series. The drama has added too numerous books but none of it came close to their own story. Holy Hot Bikers, conflict and tension took this story over 5 stars into the I will be reading it again and again category of my favorite books. I have a new understanding for Olivia. I might have jumped to a couple of conclusions in the beginning wanting to reach within in the pages and tell her off (okay I wanted to do more than that). The author was able to bring out so many emotions in me with her words. I haven't been that disgusted with a character in quite some time. Kudos to Piper Davenport for great character building. I have a new respect for Tristan, aka Doc. He didn't give up on Liv. He went after her. He was an over the top alpha male that knew what he wanted and didn't stop until he had her. And he did all of it as he protected his club. HAWT!!! This was a fantastic addition to the series. My emotions were all over the place as the author took me on a wild ride to a wonderful HEA.

This book was an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end! Be prepared for big, ugly tears, and keep the tissues handy! They will definitely be needed! But there was also lots of laughs, plenty of drama, alpha males, and women strong enough to stand up to them! I've wondered about Doc and Olivia for a while now. They just seemed to have such a strange relationship. I'm not sure if it struck me as toxic, or just a love-hate thing. But they definitely seemed to be the odd couple, in previous books. This book starts off explaining why they are how they are, and this is where those deep, roller coaster emotions come in at. There isn't much about them before they became a couple, but it delves into the early, and tragic, part of their relationship (just be prepared, it's a doozy!) Doc is so strong, and knows Olivia so well, often better than she knows herself. He is steadfast and loyal, even when most would have given up. Olivia, on the other hand, strikes me as being very fragile, emotionally, while still being a very strong person. (I know that's quite an oxymoron, but it's true!) This book left me with goose bumps. I was curious before I began, and it didn't take long for me to be emotionally invested in Doc and Olivia. Their journey was one of true love, and really gives new meaning to standing by that special person, even when they aren't so sure. There's a beautiful, soul deep connection between Doc and Olivia, and I can't say how much I enjoyed being part of that journey!

While I really enjoyed the book, I did have a a bit of a hard time getting into the beginning. Olivia was really on my nerves at the start. But she did redeem herself. Olivia and Doc are a great couple. I love the crossover between series. This book does “overlap” Jack Davenport’s book Sweet Pea. If you haven’t read any of his Burning Saints series, you should be ok. When Olivia and Doc head to Portland, all the names might be a bit overwhelming. But one of my favorite parts is Doc and Poppy’s interaction. All in all, another great book by Piper Davenport (yes, Jack Davenport is her husband). Piper continues to be one of my favorite authors.
