The first in this collection of plays by the prodigious English writer, Somerset Maugham, was first produced in 1907 and ran for a whole year. It features a wealthy woman living the high life in Monte Carlo, and like so much of Maugham's other works, is a keenly observed record of the manners and customs of her class. This play was the one that really established Maugham as a dramatist of note.
