About the author
Popular Science Monthly was founded in 1872 by Edward L. Youmans, who wished to produce content rich in science that the layperson could read and understand. Early contributors to the publication included Charles Darwin, Louis Pasteur, Thomas Edison, and Thomas Henry Huxley.
