About this ebook

As Manav opened his eyes, he saw Madhu sitting beside him, trying to wake him up. Her body fragrance and her damp hair suggested she had taken a shower. Manav's eyes struggled to fully open, still heavy with sleep. He looked towards the window, and darkness still lingered outside. Glancing at the clock, he realized it was twenty minutes past three in the night.
"What's the matter, Madhu?"
"Get up, wash your face, and freshen up. I'm heading to make tea. Then we'll go for a walk in the park."
"It's still nighttime, Madhu. It's only three-twenty in the morning," he checked the clock again.
"Nighttime? I'm already up and have taken a shower. I thought it was morning."

The book immerses readers in a touching story of love in the face of adversity. When Madhu is diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's, her devoted husband Manav must find the strength to care for her as the disease progresses. Their once effortless romance becomes clouded by Madhu's confusion about night and day. The author writes with emotional resonance about grief, helplessness and loyalty. The prose offers glimpses of tenderness between Manav and Madhu as he tenderly guides her through the darkness. Though loss looms, hope persists in quiet moments of connection. This sensitively crafted novel sheds light on the realities of Alzheimer's in India. The author avoids melodrama, instead honing in on intimate complexities. Her empathetic lens reveals the humanity in these characters' struggles. At its heart, this is a story about an unconditional love that endures when memories fail. Beautiful.

What stood out to me the most about this book is the undeniable chemistry between the protagonists, Manav and Madhu. Their love story is not just a tale of romance, but a testament to the power of love in overcoming life's challenges. The best part for me was the way the author skillfully addressed mental health themes with commendable sensitivity, adding depth and authenticity to the narrative.
