To not have to spend all his days working and be with his grandmother who is dying, he decides to volunteer at the humane society. The last person he expects to run into is Phoebe. Aft first he doesn’t even recognize her, the nerdy saxophone player he sat next to his senior year. Now, she’s grown up and beautiful and he can’t stop thinking about her.
Phoebe is a local nurse practitioner who also volunteers her time at the local humane society. She’s shocked when she sees Rome volunteering. She had a huge crush on him in high school but she wasn’t a part of the same social circle.
Now he’s discovered that Phoebe is taking care of his ailing grandmother who adores her. They end up falling for each other, but Rome’s past comes back to haunt him when his ex Katelynn shows interest in him. Phoebe feels like she’s back in high school again trying to compete with the popular girl. Will Rome be able to prove to her that he doesn’t care about all those opinions about her, or will his past come back and haunt him?

A very good read. loved it. However I wish I knew the name of this story though. The name for this book does not match what I read. Ha ha sometimes mistakes happen.
