Devant la prolifération, dès 1977, des "radios libres", le nouveau président François Mitterrand est contraint de légiférer dès son arrivée au pouvoir afin de mettre fin au monopole de la radiodiffusion. A l'occasion du trentième anniversaire de ce basculement, le Groupe de recherches et d'études sur la radio (GRER) s'est proposé, en mai 2011, de revenir sur cet événement déterminant, en organisant un colloque international en partenariat avec l'Université Paris Diderot.
