About the author

Chris Powling was the editor of the children's book magazine Book for Keeps from 1989 to 1996 when it won the Eleanor Farjeon Award for service to children's literature. He has served on numerous prize panels and is a consultant to a national children's book club. Chris has written more than sixty books for children including The Mustang Machine, The Phantom Carwash, The Conker As Hard As A Diamond and The Multi-Million Pound Mascot.

Jim Field is an illustrator, character designer and animation director. He has worked on a variety of projects including music videos and title sequences as well as illustration and picture books, notably the best-selling Oi Frog! series. Jim now lives in Paris with his wife, daughter and a small grumpy cat.
