About this ebook

A few days later, when Dip was thinking of resuming office, his mobile phone rang twice. He looked at the number and scoffed, “Yes, Dip, the kidnapper, speaking.”

“So you confess that you’re a kidnapper?” a girl’s voice rang.

     “Yes.”

     “Could you kidnap once more?”

     “Girl or boy?”

     “Girl.”

“No problem. Who is the girl?

     “Unwilling to disclose her identity.”

“Okay. Why does she wish to be kidnapped?”

“There is no other way for her to meet you.”

“Does she really want to meet me so earnestly?”

“She is dying to meet you!”

Side Effects of Infatuation includes heart-rending tales of poverty, unemployment, underhand treachery, rank superstitions and, above all, infatuation in the guise of love churning hearts.

About the author

Born to a versatile father, Ratan Kumar took to writing stories and poems since his childhood, though his aim in life was to be a vocalist. He learned singing and performed in music programmes. He also learned painting and acting and has won prizes in competitions. But he gave up everything for his love of music.

As a victim of circumstances, he could not settle permanently at any particular place. He worked in a private company in Hyderabad for a few months but he disliked service and joined a religious association. He could not adjust to the way of life there either. Therefore, he left the association and tried to concentrate on singing. To support himself, he temporarily worked in some private schools as a teacher. While travelling from place to place, he had lost most of his work done during his teens and early youth. Side Effects of Infatuation is his first published story book that consists of eleven stories.
