Not bad, but not good either... The book itself doesn't really grab you which makes the cliffhanger all the more annoying and ineffectual. I only respect cliffhangers on books that I would want to continue the series even if it wasn't a cliffhanger. Otherwise it's just a cheap ploy. The story is pretty bland overall with a main character who doesn't exactly appeal. She's your basic self centered and irresponsible teenager with delusions of rebel. Not particularly funny, not particularly concerned with consequences yet somehow still not all that full of action. When she does take action it's rash and frankly a miracle she's not in more hot water. Comes off more spoiled than a rebel. The relationship with the boyfriend is a bit heavy handed and flat as well. Wish there were less of it as this doesn't seem to be a romance and it doesn't really have any depth to it. I don't plan on reading the sequel.

I actually really enjoyed this. its a different tape on a post apocalyptic world. ive read stories about underground bunkers but never under water bunkers made of glass. I've read reviews about people not enjoying the fact that the heroine complains about her government. well personally I enjoy that because we as people need to learn to question things more and not follow blindly. I'm excited to read the rest of the series.

I enjoy the plot. Very creative. But I hate the heroine. She is constantly complaining about her govt. Making her loved ones fear but ignoring their fear. Constantly putting them in danger by complaining. They say something and she keeps doing it. Rebellious? Just complaining is not rebelling. She's all talk, no action. Meh.
