About this eBook

A guide to all kinds of addiction from a star who has struggled with heroin, alcohol, sex, fame, food and eBay, that will help addicts and their loved ones make the first steps into recovery

“This manual for self-realization comes not from a mountain but from the mud...My qualification is not that I am better than you but I am worse.” Russell Brand

With a rare mix of honesty, humor, and compassion, comedian and movie star Russell Brand mines his own wild story and shares the advice and wisdom he has gained through his fourteen years of recovery. Brand speaks to those suffering along the full spectrum of addiction—from drugs, alcohol, caffeine, and sugar addictions to addictions to work, stress, bad relationships, digital media, and fame. Brand understands that addiction can take many shapes and sizes and how the process of staying clean, sane, and unhooked is a daily activity. He believes that the question is not “Why are you addicted?” but "What pain is your addiction masking? Why are you running—into the wrong job, the wrong life, the wrong person’s arms?"

Russell has been in all the twelve-step fellowships going, he’s started his own men’s group, he’s a therapy regular and a practiced yogi—and while he’s worked on this material as part of his comedy and previous bestsellers, he’s never before shared the tools that really took him out of it, that keep him clean and clear. Here he provides not only a recovery plan, but an attempt to make sense of the ailing world.

I don't do meetings and I would never call up a mentor or a "sponsor" and ask for help it's just not me. I can't stand to seem weak. I've always known that the steps would be me wasting time or"faking it to make it" cause I'm atheist. I still needed help tho with my drug issue and then one very unexpected day someone hands me this book. I see recovery and instant was like no thanks but I seen Russell Brand on the front and I love his acting and usually what he has to say in things so I read it. all of it in an hour and half. I related and understood every bit. and it def validated what I had been saying. I would've never seen the steps this way. I've rebought this book 4 times so far. I'll prob buy it again cause I send the book to ppl that I think it would help them too. even if you believe different religion then I, trust that it can help you too. thanks Mr Brand! 💜

if you want and need help this is a gate way to , but may add just accepting your self just as you are will do or learn to love your self sweet heart and don't take on condemnation because really people are condeming there self and taking it out on you to make there self feel better about themselves because they don't know anything else/or don't know better buy the way what do you think the holy Spirit does when you receive him same thing that this book is talking about! acknowledging the love of God within yourself and around you 🙏💌

I like Russell alot, not just because we are both addicts of about all the world has to offer regarding self gratification, but in many others ways being growing up,looking at the world existing in a robotic, brainwashed fathom, to materialism,to all the fakeness of and in this world.Very intelligent, wise, charismatic and humorous soul and man.Great book.
