Acerca do autor

Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888-1975) is widely acknowledged as a major interpreter of Indian philosophical and religious tradition to the West. He was also a statesman of distinction who served as President of India.

Starting his career at the Madras Presidency College in 1909, he was appointed Professor of Philosophy in the University of Mysore in 1918. Three years later, he was appointed to the prestigious King George V Chair of Mental and Moral Science in the University of Calcutta.

The years from 1936 to 1948 saw Radhakrishnan assume many responsibilities — the Spalding Professor of Eastern Religions and Ethics at Oxford University, Fellow of the British Academy, Vice-Chancellor of the Banaras Hindu University, Chancellor, University of Delhi among others.

In May 1962 he took office as the President of India.
