About this eBook

Christianity is a religion of salvation in which believers have always anticipated post-mortem bliss for the faithful and non-salvation for others. Here, Trumbower examines how and why death came to be perceived as such a firm boundary of salvation. Analyzing exceptions to this principle from ancient Christianity, he finds that the principle itself was slow to develop and not universally accepted in the Christian movement's first four hundred years. In fact, only in the West was this principle definitively articulated, due in large part to the work and influence of Augustine.

I have a Barnes and Noble Nook, extremely unhappy with customer service and what not, but the EBook was $57.00. I looked at Google Play, and saw that it was $80.00, I guess the price is better. It is a book that fits my topic perfectly and I would love to get it. I may just spend the extra money to get it from Google Play just because of how unhappy I am with Barnes and Noble and the Customer Service and policy regarding the EBooks.

$80. Maybe a lot and may not fit on my Android..but then I've been looking for the book in bookstores. Maybe the sample may have to do. I am reading Christ the conqueror of Hell (which compliments the bishop's book) by Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev after looking at the akathist of Christ the Conqueror of Death by St. Nicholai (Velimirovich). Hmmm...
