Rhyker’s Key, Orion’s Order: Book Two by M.C. Solaris follows Calypso’s Heart, which delves into a new direction with Rhyker and Keena. As the story pivots from Caly and the strong character development in the story, Rhyker becomes the focus of attention. He plans his next quest: to seduce and win over the love of his healer, Keena, despite her resistance and solid position as his friend. While she cares for him deeply, she’s aware of his attraction and eventually learns how hard he will fight for her. The story continues with a strong plot and a richer, more satisfying look at the characters and their quest together. While Rhyker initially appears to be the standard “alpha male” whose short-sighted focus, he quickly demonstrates a stronger, more in-depth personality to win over Keena. Their complex but romantic interaction progresses into an intense level of enjoyment. In this book, the pace quickens, building brilliantly on the first book’s foundation, where readers are introduced to Caly, a recruit, into another world of unexpected adventures and experiences. Rhyker and Keena, along with the rest of the team, offer an entertaining and steamy story that will satisfy any reader’s taste for some hot twists and developments. The intense love between the couple grows, creating a dynamic story against the intense dramatic action and suspense throughout the book. I found this read pleasant, fun, and easy to enjoy without putting the book down. M.C. Solaris keeps readers engaged while elevating the intensity of steamy action to a new height of pleasure. It is the ideal paranormal romance coupled with suspense, action, and a hint of comedy. Rhyker’s Key, Orion’s Order: Book Two by M.C. Solaris is a fast-paced paranormal romance story with an exciting plot and exceptional character development that makes this story hard to put down.

* I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review *This Book is the second in a series and while it could easily be read on its own the reading experience is much better if read after the first book. *This is an adult romance and not recommended for underage readers *Trigger warnings for abuse, sex, and general violence What I Like 1. Our main lady in this installment is a mind healer. -Having previously attended college seeking a psychology the idea of a magical therapist is just very appealing to me. 2. consent matters - This is shown not only in sexy times situations but also in the use of magical abilities. This is particularly apparent early on when our main lady reflects on the difference between using her abilities as she teaches a yoga class or using them randomly when she thinks they could be useful. - specifically she is clear that consent is more important than intent. 3. The main couple of this book has their story arc well resolved while allowing plenty of room to continue exploring the world and this fascinating friend group. 4. Diving back into the species world we are following characters that have already been a part of this magical world for their whole lives. -I like how this lets the characters to do and understand more quickly into events What I didn't like as much. 1. Okay so our main couple constantly refers to each other in their inner dialogue by the phrases "that female" and "this male". The frequency of this in the first 25% of the book was somewhat jarring. Using those phrases makes since for the way books in this genre are written and does feel in keeping with the character's typical speech patterns but I would have personally preferred some variance such as thinking of each other more by their names, jobs, or similar. Random thoughts and who would I recommend this book for I continue to think this series would be a good fit for fans of the Anita Blake vampire hunter series. Rhyker's Key is a steamy romance seamlessly blending intriguing plot and spicy connections. I am looking forward to future books in the series.

Rhyker's Key Book 2 of the Orion's Order Series I have laughed, cried, freaked and wanted to shake a few characters. Talk about a roller coaster. Such a great read. You'll be glued to your seat through the entire 618 pages. Rhyker Kingsley is a panther shifter that comes from a well known aristocratic bloodline, along with his twin brother Rhyland. They find working for the Order an honorable choice versus working in the family business. Keena is drawn to Rhyker's bad boy, tattooed persona with his piercing glue eyes. Keena Oliver is a mind and spirit healer. From the start, she and Ryker have a chemistry between them. However, she just ended a relationship and is determined to keep Ryker in the friends category. The rest of the group/pack are really tight. Wolf, panthers, vampire and sterroian lethally trained hunters, to fight evil. Keena is welcomed into the group which includes Calypso (Caly), Blake's mate (Blake is the Alpha of the Pack), Rhyker's twin Rhyland, Deacon the geeky computer and security guy, Nico the vampire (second in command). They are all living in a fortress owned by Riordan (Ancient Seer) who is mentoring Caly who is a young seer who had grown up in the human world. Though they will defend one another in an instant, they are just as likely to play pranks on each other and do a fair amount of teasing. You have to release some of that tension from time to time. While solving cases for the Order, the group is also dealing with The Mastermind (a mentalist, ancient and powerful) who is trying to take everything over to rule the world. M.C. Solaris has done a wonderful job writing these stories and including so much love, laughter and romance. Looking forward to Deacon and Starr's book 3. You don't want to miss it.

About the author

M.C. Solaris’s life took an unexpected turn during the super blood moon eclipse on January 20, 2019. She woke up and began writing bios for her imaginary friends that she met that day. As soon as the pen hit the paper (or fingertips to the iPhone), she couldn’t stop. It was kind of like one of those fire hydrants, spewing copious amounts of water all over the place. The characters and their stories just flowed out of her. She is honored to be the scribe, getting to share her friends’ stories. On a personal note, M.C. Solaris is actually the pseudonym of Marina Schroeder, women’s health enthusiast and lover of all things paranormal romance (PNR) and happily ever after (HEA). When she is not curled up on the sofa with her partner’s oversized hoodie, a PNR novel, peppermint tea, and one of her three cats, you will find her either at the ocean with her toes in the sand or in a forest hugging a tree.
