This book is not for absolute beginners, you must have created something with jMonkey first; just to gain the experience required to understand what this book is written about. Then use the advice given by this book to create your *next* project. The good: ... The bad: The 'World Building' examples don't work well because jMonkey's Scene Composer and its various editors are too buggy. I also remember that there were a few extra steps I had to go through in order to get jMonkey's scene composer to work but this book does not mention them. I feel this book has been written in the hope that jMonkey will, at some point be a stable 'drag and drop' and a 'palette and property' style game building but jMonkey is not at the moment (September 2015). The Nify GUI examples are pretty bad and obviously untested. By untested I mean: asked someone other than the author to try them out. The Nifty GUI instructions are chaotic if not just incomplete. Conclusion: I know technical books take a lot of work to write and their examples are rarely tested. I'd like my money back :-/ For effort I give 2 stars.
